A dab torch is a butane-powered torch used to heat quartz bangers, titanium nails, and other dab rig accessories to the high temperatures needed for vaporizing concentrates. Dab torches produce flames reaching 2,500°F+, far hotter than standard lighters, allowing quick and efficient heating of dabbing surfaces.

Unlock the safety mechanism, press the ignition button to light the flame, and adjust flame size using the control dial. Low-quality butane also causes ignition issues—switch to refined butane (5x or higher).

For home use with standard bangers, a full-size tabletop torch offers the best combination of power and fuel capacity. For travel or small bangers, a mini torch provides adequate heat in a portable package. Pen torches work for touch-ups or tiny nails but struggle with larger quartz. Match torch size to your banger size and usage patterns.

Burn time varies by tank size and flame setting. Full-size torches like the Blazer Big Shot provide 35-60 minutes of continuous burn time. Mini torches offer 10-20 minutes. Standard Bic-style lighters don't produce enough heat to effectively heat quartz bangers or titanium nails—you'd need to hold the flame for many minutes, which is impractical and potentially dangerous. Torch lighters (jet flame lighters) can work for small bangers but take much longer than proper dab torches. For regular dabbing, a dedicated dab torch is highly recommended.

Dab torches are safe when used properly. Always use the safety lock when not actively heating. Keep flames pointed away from yourself, others, and flammable materials. First, ensure the torch is empty and cool. Use a can of compressed air to blow out debris from the nozzle. For stubborn clogs, carefully insert a thin wire or needle into the nozzle opening to dislodge buildup—be gentle to avoid damaging internal components.
